Multi-Tenant, Federated, Security Model

Traverse has a built-in federated security model which supports multiple departments, users or customers in using a single instance of the software. The flexible security model allows creating read-only or read-write users, administrative users within a department/domain, or administrative users across departments/domains. ‘Private’ departmental or user-specific views can be enabled in a single deployment of Traverse, even if the various views are based on monitoring information from the same DGE.

This unique feature allows the networking department, the server group and the database group, for example, to all have autonomy in monitoring their own equipment, but allows a CxO or a NOC group to create business containers from devices across multiple departments.

Example: An eCommerce service consists of a database managed by the DB group, and a router and a server managed by the network and server groups respectively. All of these groups are within the same organization. Each department can set up its own devices and applications for monitoring in Traverse and cannot see the other groups devices being monitored. When the server is low on memory and causes poor performance of the eCommerce service, the NOC can immediately drill into the eCommerce business container in Traverse and see that the root cause is the low memory on the server.
